Year 2

It's been a busy last term in Year 2! We have had so much fun enjoying the lovely weather and we are all looking forward to Year 3!

Inquiry and Experiences

We have thoroughly enjoyed our central idea this term, learning about equal rights and equity. We have learnt about significant people who influenced a change such as Rosa Parks, Emily Davison and Emmiline Pankhurst. The children have thoroughly enjoyed reading Oliver Twist and learning about the Victorians. We were also lucky enough to take part in a Anti-Racism workshop which was fantastic and made us think carefully about what words we use in the classroom and beyond. In the last week, we enjoyed a fantastic trip about the Victorians and sewing activities.

In Pip, Year 2 have learnt about how people have changed our own community, by finding out about how Langley Park has been changed by the people to built it, and by our community who live and learn in it. We have learned about maps, and using them to find our way between different places. It was great fun using the bee-bots to help with this! Our visit to Kent Life also gave us an opportunity to think about the changes people have made to our community over time, not only by exploring the buildings, but as we travelled across Maidstone and up to the site.

Maths

This term, we have spent the term consolidating maths learning including the four operations, time, position and direction, statistics including bar graphs, tally charts and pictograms and so much more! We were able to complete lots of practical learning using different manipulatives to aid our learning. All of these areas will be important for Year 3 and we encourage the children to keep practicing their four operations!

Finally...

To Empire and Jazzy; thank you for working so hard throughout the year. You have been fantastic inquirers and learners and have been resilient learners. Miss Kimber, Mr Fenton, Miss Bick, and Miss Clark wish you all the best in Year 3. Keep being amazing! A big thank you to parents and carers for supporting us with your children's learning throughout the year.
