Year 2

In Skills Week, Year 2 pupils learned about the famous explorer James Cook.  Here is a snapshot of their research through different subject lenses.

'Who We Are'

When their basic needs are met, animals and humans thrive

1. An inquiry into what animal and human basic needs are.

2. An inquiry into how the basic needs can be met.

3. An inquiry into ways in which lifestyle choices are influenced by meeting the basic needs.

Through the design and technology lens, the children learnt about healthy and unhealthy food choices and then they created their own sandwiches.  Some children then took action at home and made a sandwich for themselves!

Howletts Zoo

As part of our inquiry cycle, the children visited Howletts Zoo.  This experience gave them the opportunity to see the animals in real life and to understand what their basic needs are.   The trip gave them an insight into learning about habitats.
