Reception

Central Idea: Understanding myself and others help me grow.

Line of Inquiry 1: 'An exploration of feelings and emotions'

We have been learning about different emotions and feelings. We explored the story 'The Colour Monster' and linked our feelings to different colours. We enjoyed talking about how we felt in our first week at school and how it feels to settle into a new class. We created our own colour monster to represent our feelings using paint.

Line of Inquiry 2: 'An inquiry into how we learn in different ways'

Throughout this term, we have learnt about the different Learner Profile Attributes and how we can show these at school. We linked the Learner Profile Attributes to Julia Donaldson texts. 'Zog' taught us how to be principled learners and 'What the Ladybird Heard' helped us to be good communicators!

Line of Inquiry 3: 'An inquiry into how our senses help us learn'

We have also been learning about our five senses. We made the Gruffalo Crumble and used our sense of smell and taste to talk about our likes and dislikes. We also made cinnamon playdough to use in our VIP Time!

Line of Inquiry 4: 'An inquiry into seasonal changes'

We started learning about the four different seasons as part of our inquiry. We found out about the season Autumn and how the trees and weather change. We went on an autumn walk to collect different artefacts. We enjoyed exploring the artefacts and also used our phonics to write about them.

Our learning in Apollo Class

Zac has been showing his Maths learning in his play. He used the manipulatives to make an AB pattern independently!

Georgia has been using her froggy legs to hold her pencil correctly when practising her name writing.

Luca enjoyed reading the story 'The Gruffalo' and made his own Gruffalo mask during his VIP Time!

Our learning in Discovery Class

Tiago has been working on his handwriting, and is remembering to use sound bars when he writes a digraph.

Ifedara has been using her maths skills to create ABC patterns in her VIP time.

Ralph is working hard to use his phonics in his writing, to enhance his drawings.
