We started the module learning about the season of Autumn. The children were inquirers exploring different things that happen within Autumn as well as sorting objects into those that are 'Autumn' and 'not Autumn'.
The children began the inquiry looking into different roles within our community. The children explore different roles including doctors, vets, police officers as well as what a community is. The children enjoyed talking about jobs that their parents have as well as other more unusual jobs around us. They also used the bee-bots and programmed them to travel to different occupations within the nursery room, using words such as 'forward', 'backward', 'turn' and 'stop' to talk about what the beebots were doing.
They also explored the role dentists have in caring for our teeth, and what we can do to help keep our teeth healthy.
As part of this line of inquiry the children learnt about what 'responsibility' was and how important it is to be 'caring' for our world. The children worked well in teams to collect litter around the school site to ensure that it is clean for us and Willow.
The children also looked at different materials and explored how these can be sorted into different groups to be recycled or not recycled.
As part of this line of inquiry the children learnt about what it meant to be an elderly resident in our local community. They baked Christmas biscuits, made Christmas cards and sang Christmas songs at two local care homes, they even sang happy birthday to Mrs L's Grandma!
The children also learnt about the Christmas story, retelling it in their play as well as exploring different ways Christians celebrate Christmas at home.
The children finished the module by performing their Christmas songs to their parents. Well done on a super module Seedlings. We hope you all have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing you in January 2025!
