Important Reminders:
Snack:
Your child should bring a healthy snack and water bottle to school every day. Please also remember that we are a nut free school. A water bottle is especially important on days where the children have sport lessons.
Sport:
Tuesday and Wednesday
Sport will take place either at the Fulbourn Sport and Recreation Centre or onsite. Children are reminded to please wear clothing to school that is suitable for a sports lesson (tracksuit trousers/ leggings/shorts and t-shirt). Please also note that the children MUST wear white, non-marking soled shoes inside the sports centre.
Kung Fu sessions take place on Tuesday afternoon. Children will need to wear comfortable and practical clothing for these sessions.
Forest School:
Every Wednesday afternoon. Equipment your child will need:
Waterproof trousers
Waterproof jacket
Welly (rubber) boots
A spare set of clothes, including socks
Break times:
On Friday lunchtime all primary classes will be going to the Fulbourn Rec. Centre for their playtime. This will allow students more open, free space to run around as well as giving them access to other play and climbing equipment. It is especially important that your child brings appropriate clothing for the weather on these days.
Reading:
Books will be sent home with their reading diary. We may ask your child to keep the same book for a few days to practise it again. It is important that you listen to your child read at home every night, as they need lots of practice to become fluent readers. It is also helpful if you can write a comment in their reading log when you have done so.
As your child becomes more fluent at reading, the focus needs to be on ensuring they fully understand what they are reading, can predict what might happen next and make inferences about the book they are reading. When you listen to your child read, please remember to ask them questions about the book, talk about the characters and to ask them to retell the story to you.
Equipment:
Stationery will be provided by the school. Year 3 can choose to bring a pencil case if they wish.
Landmark International School operates a 1:1 device policy, and during Year 3 we will be introducing computing skills as required to support their learning. Chrome Books are being issued to all Year 3 students on loan, with a charger. It would be helpful for them to also bring in a set of named head phones to support their online learning. These Chrome Books will be sent home once the students are able to independently use and look after them, and should be brought to school every day, fully charged.
Home learning:
Reading daily with and to your child is strongly recommended. There may be occasions when our learning in school can be enhanced by home inquiries, and we will communicate this as necessary. Discussing your child´s learning is key to embedding and reflecting on what they have discovered at school. Regular updates will be shared with parents, along with example questions to get the conversation going over the dinner table! In Year 3, children will be given online Mathletics Home Learning to complement and reinforce the learning in class. We will set this on a weekly basis, please ensure you encourage students to keep up to date with this additional practice.
