Home and Family Language Provision

Families who wish their children to continue developing their linguistic skills and vocabulary in their home language, have the opportunity to choose amongst several formulas. 

LIS  offers private tuition within the school day in many languages (these past few  years we have provided tuition in German, French, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Arabic and many more).

Formulas are decided upon according to the families’ wishes. Some students at LIS have one-to-one lessons whilst others work in very small groups ; the lessons are sometimes conversational, but very often include the learning of reading and writing in the home language at various levels from total beginner up to IGCSE level/A level. Teachers also include cultural content in the lessons.

For families who plan on going back to their home countries in the near future, we are sometimes able to offer a special programme with several hours a week, following part of the curriculum from the country of origin.
