Important information:
Snack:
Your child should please bring a healthy snack and water bottle to school every day. Please also remember that we are a nut free school.
Sport:
Mondays and Wednesdays
Sport will take place in the school playground or hall, depending on the weather. Children are reminded to please wear clothing to school that is suitable for a sports lesson (trainers, tracksuit trousers/shorts and t-shirt).
Kung Fu will be on a Tuesday so children should also come to school wearing appropriate clothing on that day.
Forest School will be on Wednesday afternoons.
Equipment:
Your child will need:
Waterproof trousers
Waterproof jacket
Welly (rubber) boots
An art apron
A book bag ( Please purchase from the Office)
A spare set of clothes (especially Reception aged children!)
Break times:
On Friday lunchtimes all primary classes will be going to the Fulbourn Rec. ground for their playtime. This will allow students more open, free space to run around as well as giving students access to the play and climbing equipment. It is especially important that your child brings a jacket/coat as appropriate on these days.
Reading:
We will hear your child read or change their reading book daily once your child is ready to read. We may ask your child to keep the same book for a few days to practise it again. It is important that you listen to your child read at home every night, as they need lots of practice to become fluent readers. It is also helpful if you can write a comment in their reading log when you have done so.
As your child becomes more fluent at reading, the focus needs to be on ensuring they fully understand what they are reading, can predict what might happen next and make inferences about the book they are reading. When you listen to your child read, please remember to ask them questions about the book, talk about the characters and to ask them to retell you the story.
Home learning:
There is no formal home learning set in Reception or Year 1 but we would encourage you to read to and with your child every day. Sometimes we will send home tricky words or sounds for you to practise at home with your child.
