COURSE OBJECTIVES: 

• Prepare to become competent in childcare rules and regulations, learning environments, principles of child development, trends and issues in early childhood education and classroom management techniques

• Designed for college or career bound students who have a sincere desire to teach and care for young children

• Learn how to communicate effectively, work productively in teams, and apply appropriate academic and technical skills in real-world situations

• Be supervised teaching children in a lab, school, or community setting, applying what has been learned through coursework and previous lab experiences

• Become a culturally competent educator able to teach to diverse learning styles, culturally and linguistically diverse learners, children with diverse abilities and from vastly different family backgrounds

This course prepares students for life after McCaskey by... earning a national certificate to continue working in a childcare setting immediately after graduation or continuing their education in college for an advanced degree in education.
