COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• Apply scientific principles through hands-on, real-world applications to understand and analyze agricultural systems and environmental processes

• Engage in the sustainable production of food, fiber, and natural resource products with an understanding of traditional production agriculture and innovative urban agriculture practices

• Investigate and evaluate the impact of agricultural practices on soil, water, and biodiversity to promote sustainable resource management

• Design and implement inquiry-based approaches to test hypotheses related to the science of agriculture, food, and natural resources in order to successfully communicate findings to diverse audiences

• Demonstrate awareness, responsibility, and problem-solving potential for global food security, environmental stewardship, and climate resilience in agricultural contexts

This course prepares students for life after McCaskey by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to address basic human needs (food, water, clothing, shelter, energy, etc.) on both a local and global scale.
