I was born in Mexico but grew up in Arizona. I have been living in Arizona for 24 years. I graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s in Secondary Education, specializing in Spanish. I then graduated with a Master's in Spanish Literature. I have been teaching for 15 years, mostly in Arizona, but I taught in Nicaragua for 2 years. In 2022, I was named Arizona Language Teacher of the Year.
Bienvenidos al Programa Dual de Kyrene Middle School.
I was born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Arizona. I began my teaching career in 2017 at Kyrene del Norte Dual Language Academy, and since 2023 I have had the privilege of being part of the Kyrene Middle School community. I am a proud graduate of the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, and I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education with the 2017 Bilingual Education cohort at Arizona State University.
This is a pivotal year for students to take ownership of their learning, both in Spanish Language Arts and in Individuals & Societies. Together with the Dual Language team, our goal is to provide a classroom environment that supports learning, builds a strong work ethic, inspires growth in the target language, and promotes academic success for every student.
I was born in Colombia, South America, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the National University of Colombia. In 2017, I completed my M.A. in Teaching Spanish at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, where I also had the opportunity to teach Spanish at the lower-division level.
My teaching journey in the Kyrene School District began in 2018. Two years later, I had the privilege of helping launch the Dual Language Program at Akimel. I am now in my third year at KMS, proud to continue supporting our enthusiastic Dual Language community.
It is truly an honor to be part of a program that celebrates bilingualism, biliteracy, multicultural understanding, global citizenship, and academic excellence.
