THE Kyrene Middle School Theatre Program offers many opportunities for performance, design, and stage management. Scorpions can support the backstage operations of theatre in Technical Theatre class or work on public speaking and acting skills in Theatre. In addition, KMS Theatre Ensemble is a free school club that meets on Wednesday mornings and produces at least one production per school year open to all KMS students.

Theatre is a multi-faceted performance-based class designed to provide hands-on explorations of the art by creating (characters, plays, and costumes), designing (sets, lights, costumes, and sound), directing (skits and scenes), and performing (both solo and in groups). Through these explorations, students gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their own society & culture and societies & cultures around the world.
Theatre I is an introductory level class that focuses on the foundations of theatre-how it developed throughout the world, how character is developed, what are the basic elements of production and design.
Theatre II is for more advanced students who are eager to delve more deeply into theatre production, exercises and activities.
Technical Theatre is for those students interested in focusing on directing, set construction, lighting, costume, and makeup design.
