William Charles Lunalilo
William Charles Lunalilo was born on January 31, 1835, in a two-story house made of coral brick, an area known as Pohukaina, now part the grounds of the ʻIolani Palace in Honolulu. His mother was High Chiefess Miriam Auhea Kekāuluohi (later styled as Kaʻahumanu III) and his father was High Chief Charles Kanaʻina. He was grandnephew of Kamehameha I by blood and the monarch's stepson by marriage to his mother. His grandmother was Kalākua Kaheiheimālie, sister of Kamehameha's favorite wife, Queen Kaʻahumanu. This made him both, a second cousin as well as first cousin to King Kamehameha V, King Kamehameha IV, and Princess Victoria Kamāmalu through their mothers: Kekāuluohi and Kīnaʻu (later styled as Kaʻahumanu II) who were half-sisters. Lunalilo translates as Luna (high) lilo (lost) or "so high up as to be lost to sight" in the Hawaiian language.[4] He was also named after King William IV of the United Kingdom, a great friend of the Hawaiian royal family.[5]

We are kicking off our hale fundraiser for this school year. We will be selling laulau.

- Laulau $25 - each pack will contain (5) five frozen laulau
- There is a FACTS fee of $1 that will be added to each order so it comes to $26 on the order form.
We will be doing a pre-sale from 10/4/25 - 10/22/25. This will allow us the opportunity to know how many laulau our hale will need to make. Pickup will be at our hale, the week of Thanksgiving Break (11/23-11/25). We thought this would be a great opportunity stock up for the holidays. We are asking that each haumāna sell at least (5) five packs of Laulau, but more is always welcomed.

With the funds raised, we were hoping to do holiday and end of the year celebrations, as well some activities that require costs that we previously looked past due to the cost component. We also want to be able to celebrate the accomplishments of our haumāna.

Aloha my name is Kumu Kellie and this is my 6th year in Residential Life here at Kamehameha Schools, and my third year in Lunalilo Hale. My husband and I have 3 keiki kane. My oldest is scheduled to graduate from UH in the spring of 2027. My two other boys are in the 11th and 9th grade at Saint Louis School. A proud graduate of KS , class of 2000. I have my MBA from Chaminade University and my undergraduate BS in Accounting and International Business with a minor in Finance and from Purdue University. On my free time, I love to travel and spend time with my Ohana.

Aloha, Iʻm Kumu Līlia! I am from Nānākuli, Oʻahu. This will be my 6th school year working in Residential Life and my 2nd year in Lunalilo Hale. I was previously in Kahaʻōpūlani Hale. My husband, Justin, and I have a daughter named Emma. She is currently 7 months old. I graduated from Chaminade with my BA in Humanities with an Education Emphasis and an MED in Instructional Leadership. I enjoy spending time with family, going to the beach and traveling. I am excited to work and live alongside our girls this year in Lunalilo.

Aloha e, I am Kumu Anuhea. I was born and raised on the island of Oahu and I attended Pearl City High School, I spent most of my childhood in Honolulu. Last year me and my partner were blessed with our one year old baby boy. I have been with the Residential life program for just about a year. Last year I worked in the Kahaopulani Hale with 7th and 8th graders. I am very excited to learn all of your names and to get the chance to know each and every one of you.I can’t wait for what this school year will bring and all the memories we all will make together. I believe making the most of what time you have with those you cherish is important. Whether it consists of outings,trips,game nights, or even just a phone call to have a conversation. Every second counts, we are not always promised tomorrow. So let’s make this year a memorable one. CHEEHOO🌟

Aloha kākou, I am Kumu Piʻi and I am really excited to join the ohana at Kamehameha schools and mentoring your keiki. I am one of 16 children, a mother of 6, 4 daughters and 2 sons and extra blessed with 3 grand-children. I am also currently the President of The Eddie Aikau Foundation and Coordinator/facilitator for Surfers Healing annual surf camp in Waikiki for keiki wiith special needs. I enjoy spending time with ohana and looking forward to contributing to the success of your keiki’s education
