Kumu Ipolani and her hui visited our hale to share the practice of ‘Ulana Lau Hala with our haumāna. Check out our hale video created by Kumu Kili to see some beautiful moments of ‘ike kūpuna and aloha in action.
Our haumana took a step in to the past by visiting different historical sites and learning the impact these sites have in our history. They also made ho'okupu while on location to share their aloha and mahalo.
Our haumana had the opportunity to build pilina, explore the moku of Ko'olau Loa, hana ka lima in the lo'i and make memories with their hale sisters.
11/12 Haumana gave oli and shared their hearts of gratitude to Pauahi for the many opportunities and blessings that she has enabled them to have through their time at Kamehameha.
Our haumana explored the cultural booths and programs at Ho'olau Kanaka- an event that allowed them to embrace, engage with, and appreciate the rich traditions and artistic expressions of our thriving Hawaiian heritage.
ShoutOUT our boarders and Res Life Staff for participating and completing the Nā Wāhine O Ke Kai Canoe Race, which is the world championship for women's outrigger canoe racing, a 41-mile race across the Kaiwi Channel from Molokai to Waikiki.
Mahalo nui to KS Alumni Boarders, Momi and Crysten, for joining us at hale dinner and sharing their experiences about life after high school and boarding.
Kalani Paiʻea Wohi o Kaleikini Kealiʻikui Kamehameha o ʻIolani i Kaiwikapu kauʻi Ka Liholiho Kūnuiākea; c. 1758? – May 8 or 14, 1819), also known as Kamehameha the Great, was the founder and first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii.
Kamehameha (known as Paiea at birth), was born in Kohala, Hawaii to Kekuʻiapoiwa II, the niece of Alapainui, the usurping ruler of Hawaii Island who had killed the two legitimate heirs of Keaweʻīkekahialiʻiokamoku during civil war; and the son of Keōua Kalanikupuapa'ikalaninui.
As soon as Kamehameha was born, Keku'iapoiwa wrapped him in kapa and placed him gently in the arms of Nae'ole, a chief of Kohala whom she trusted, to take to her cousin, Kaha'ōpulani. Nae'ole Hale is the name of the Middle School Boys' Dorm and Kaha'ōpulani Hale is the name of the Middle School Girls' Dorm.
Pauahi is the great-granddaughter of Kamehameha I and the last descendant of the Kamehameha line.
