Born in 1797 in Hilo, Hawaiʻi Island
Son of King Kamehameha I and his highest ranking wife Keōpūolani
Put in the care of Queen Kaʻahumanu (another wife of Kamehameha I) and she was annointed as his official guardian
Passed away July 14, 1824
Most known for the ʻAi Noa or the breaking of the kapu system (Hawaiian code of conduct that included policies about lifestyles, religion, politics and gender roles)
