For those new to Residential Life and the Kamehameha campuses, you will notice each building named for an aliʻi or person of significance within the Kamehameha Dynasty. Kapālama in particular uses the hierarchy of person for name placement within the campus. 10 hale are in use at this time, representing all buildings that were hale on campus in their renamed state, original hale were named by ROTC company. With the names of our aliʻi as our building namesakes, builds a kahua and meʻe for our young ʻōiwi of Kamehameha Schools. Ke Aliʻi Pauahi and Kamehameha Schools would not be possible without all of these names and all of the names listed on the schools map. Each name holds a piece of both history and now future, the kūleana of a name is a life long act of ʻIke Kūpuna, Mālama, Kūpono, Kūlia, Alakaʻi Lawelawe, and Aloha ʻĀina.
