Shortcut to clear the "Cache" on a Chromebook - Clear Chrome Cache
Step 1 - Hold down the CTRL key & the SHIFT key & the BACKSPACE key
Step 2 - Click in the time range box and change it to "all time" and click "clear data"
This will help if you are having issues with a student website that was working and suddenly stopped working or the student suddenly cannot login.

How to Powerwash a Chromebook
Power Washing is also referred to as a factory reset or wiping the Chromebook.
Please Note:
It can take up to three days for a Chromebook to auto-update to the latest Chrome OS after being PowerWashed.

**it does not hurt to powerwash a Chromebook
You might want to power wash a Chromebook if:
* The battery is not charging.
* The audio is not working.
* The mouse or keyboard is not working properly.
* You see the message "Reset this Chrome device."
* You are having problems with a user profile or settings.
After you restart the Chromebook, you should now see the setup screen. Follow the instructions on the screen to set up your Chromebook again.

STEPS to PowerWash a 3100 or 3100 2in1 Chromebook
Power device on.
Press escape & refresh (where the F3 key would be) & the power button at the same time. On the touchscreen Chromebooks the power button is on the left side. (It doesn't have to be exactly the same time - I usually hold down escape, then refresh, then power.)
At the white screen (where it says "Please insert a recovery USB or SD card - you don't need to do that), press control + d.
Press Enter on the next screen.
Press enter on the last screen. The device will reboot at this point and may need to be re-enrolled. Follow the set-up prompts.

Make sure it is plugged into power
Press and Hold down the refresh button (and do not let go until the Chromebook comes on)
While holding the refresh button - push the POWER button and let go - do not hold the power button
the power button for the touchscreens is on the left side near the power port
the power button for the non-touchscreens is on the top row of the keyboard on the right
The Chromebook should power on - once it powers on - let go of the refresh button
Always try plugging the power cord into both ports on the Chromebook - it can be charged from either side

Resetting Student Passwords with ARS - Passwords can be reset using ARS in a few simple steps
Use the above website (from school only - you cannot login to this at home)
Login using your employee ID (including the zeros) and KCS password
Type the first 2-3 letters of the student’s first and last name into the search bar. It’s usually better this way – sometimes ARS gets very confused if you try to type their whole name in.
Click the checkbox next to the student's name.
Click reset password on the right side of the screen
Type the same password* in BOTH boxes.
NOTE: Uncheck the box that says “User must change password” - this is not always checked - if it is BLUE you must click to uncheck the box
Click "Finish" - do not click "save"
Chromebook Rotated Screen
How to Fix a Rotated Screen on a Chromebook
Press the CTRL, Shift and Refresh buttons at the same time — the Refresh button looks like a curving arrow and is located just above the 3 and 4 on the keyboard.
In the pop-up, select "Continue."
Press continue to rotate the screen. Or just keep pressing CTRL, Shift and Refresh until the screen is back to normal.
Google Docs Voice to Type
In Google Docs click on Tools then click on Voice typing
You will see this icon on your screen. When you want Google Docs to listen and type you just click on the microphone icon, then click on the microphone again to stop. To completely turn it off just click on the “X.” It's a really cool feature. You can even “say” your punctuation and it will include it. You can also say “new line” and it will start on a new line.

Log in to Incident IQ - use your KCS email and password
On the left side of your screen look for "My Classes" and click on My Classes
Find your homeroom class and click on it
You'll see your students listed with their devices
Click on the student you want to check and scroll down past their classes
If the box is checked then they have signed the tech ageeement and can take their Chromebook home.

This is just a basic video showing how students login to their Chromebooks. This was made when we first got our Chromebooks but it is still helpful information when students are struggling to login!

Go to accessibility settings on the Chromebook -
• click on the time
• then click on settings then advanced
• then accessibility (the student needs to be signed in to do this)
Then click on "Manage accessibility features"
Click on the button to "Enable ChromeVox (spoken feedback) and then close Settings
Hold down the "search" button (above the left shift key) and tap "o" two times - this will open the ChromeVox Options
Click on the button to select "Speak text under the mouse" then close the tab - once you turn this on it stays even if you use the shortcut at the bottom of the page to turn ChromeVox on and off.
There are more settings you can change if you go back to accessibility settings and manage accessibility features, and text-to-speech voice settings you can change:
• the rate, pitch, and volume
• the language
Once you've set this up on the student's account it will stay and you can just turn it on and off with the shortcut below.
***You'll need to teach your student's the shortcut to turn this feature on and off!!! If you don't it will get very annoying.

How to Verify Devices in IIQ Using My Classes
Verify Devices Using My Classes in IIQ
The My Classes tab in IIQ gives teachers the ability to check devices in and out to students, as well as perform on-site asset verifications (wellness checks throughout the year) without the need for lengthy deployments. The information in My Classes is integrated from Aspen.
Click the “My Classes” Tab from any page. All of your classes will be listed on this page.
Double check to make sure you have the correct class (usually your homeroom).
Click on “Verify Assets”
By default students are listed alphabetically by first name. You can change this by clicking on the double arrows in the Student Information section.
Find the student you are looking for and click the ? to the left of the student’s name. Please be aware if the student has more than one device assigned to them it will look like this.
If a student has more than one device assigned to them you will need to type the asset tag of the device they hand you into the search box and click Verify. This will pop up the verification box.
When you click the ? it will bring up the Asset Verification information box:
Very carefully check to make sure the Asset Tag and Serial Number match the information on the bottom of the student’s Chromebook.
If the sticker(s) are missing from the bottom of the device go to the login screen and press ALT + V for the ID asset and SN.
If it does, click Verified/Correct
If it does not, contact your Device Manager for assistance.
There will now be a new record located in the “Progress” and “History” section as well as the number of remaining students needing their device verified.
Once verified there will be a green check next to that student’s name with the date of the verification.
You are finished and can move on to the next student if the device is in good, working order.
If it is not see below.
Please do a quick check for any apparent physical damage.
Things to look for:
Cracked LCD
Missing keys
Damaged plastics that might be dangerous
Submit a ticket
If you see any damage please submit a ticket using either of the “Submit Ticket” buttons.
