How to Add an Assignment to Your Canvas Course

Click on your Canvas course
Click on Assignments and then click + assignments (this will give you a new, blank assignment
Type in a name for the new assignment
In the text box tell the class what you want them to do - if it will be a text response you can copy and paste text from another source - there are many types of assignments - this is a simple set up
Scroll down and select how you want the assignment submitted - for this simple set up - select "text entry"
Scroll down and select a date the assignment is due
Scroll down and select save -

Using Brainpop in Canvas
Did you know that not only do we have a school subscription for Brainpop you can link it to your Canvas course and create assignments in Brainpop? Your students can have their own unique login for your class in Brainpop and you can link assignments directly to them. This link shows you how to create this connection between Canvas and Brainpop.

Mastery View Predictive Assessments
When using Canvas and Mastery Connect together, the best practice is to create your tracker from inside your Canvas course. If a course is cross-listed, cross-listing needs to occur BEFORE linking a Mastery Tracker.
Log in to Canvas and navigate to your course.
Out of the Canvas Course Navigation, click “Mastery Tracker.”
When you see the blindfolded panda, click “Link Mastery Tracker.”
Select “Create a new Tracker from a standard set” and then “Link.”
Provide information for Title, Subject, Core, and Class. Once you have completed each section, select “Link.”
Title: LEAVE All of the information as listed and add teacher last name to the very end. **This is the only way to ensure you receive the correct benchmark.**
SEE GREEN TABLE LISTED BELOW
Subject: Choose the correct subject from the table below.
Core: Select the standards based on the table below.
Class: Select the Class by grade level (K-8) or Class Title as listed in the table below.
*If you are adding a standard set that does not have a Mastery Connect Benchmark Assessment, please see the directions provided by your supervisor.

ADDING A TEAMS LINK TO CANVAS
How to Add a TEAMS link to your Canvas page

Click on your Canvas course
Open the page you want to put the Teams link on (homepage or other or even a new page)
Click on the Apps Icon (looks like an electronics plug) then select "view all"
Click on Microsoft Teams Meeting
Click on "Sign in"
Sign in with your knoxschools.org account
Click on "create meeting link"
Give the meeting a title "Mrs. Sardonia remote learning class"
Select a time for the meeting
Click on "create"
Click the "X" to close the window
Click on "COPY to COPY the meeting link
Be sure to click on SAVE at the bottom of the page to save the changes you've made to this page - and make sure this page is "PUBLISHED" so students can view it
