We had a great first meeting with our Complex PCNCs and School Family Engagement Leads. Lani Solomona from the state office to give updates and Shelley Andrews from Kailua HS to talk about her Project Love parent group. This year we will focus on two areas where this group requested support and resources: Parent Education and Communication. Next meeting we will be co-constructing a survey to use at our schools to find our what FAMILIES what for parent education topics to guide our planning. We will also have speakers from Kamehameha Schools to discuss ways to bring Hawaiian culture into family engagement.
“When schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more.”
-Anne Henderson and Karen Mapp
