Family Engagement
Our 2nd Quarter meeting with our PCNCs and School Family Engagement Leads from our complex AND from the Castle-Kahuku Complex. We are now Windward District strong in support of Family Engagement!
Kaleo Puana and Mark Ellis from Kamehameha Schools joined us to share the work they are doing around family engagement in our district and to share resources for bringing HĀ and Hawaiian culture into our events. We worked on co-constructing a survey to use at our schools to find our what FAMILIES want for parent education topics to guide our planning and discussed how Joyce Epstein's 6 Types of Family Engagement can support the school's SMARTe goals.
Our next meeting is Feb. 4th. We are looking forward to exploring more local resources for Parent Education and having representatives from the Windward District CTE Team teach us how to expand our skills around communicating with families though social media.

International Children's Digital Library Free digitized picture books in multiple languages. Great for ESL students.
ESL Videos provides educational resources for English as a Second Language Students to improve their listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary skills. They are free to use in class, lab, or at home.
