I’m a mother, learner, educator, coach, and life enthusiast, who's passionate about curriculum, technology, MakerEd, outdoor adventures, shopping, food, discovery, and FUN! I was raised in a small farming community in the Central Valley of California, where I spent the first 18 years of my life. After graduating from high school, I left for Spain which sparked my desire to experience the world. In 2011, while in Brazil, I took on an important role in my life, that of mother. Brayden and I have had many fun adventures and rewarding experiences because of our life in international education. The biggest influence in our lives has always been the relationships that develop with people in our communities. They open our eyes to fresh perspectives, different ways of life, and invitations to learn about a new culture. After taking a year off and returning home during the last year, we are super excited to rejoin the international community and create connections with the people we have yet to meet.
I have over 20 years of experience in education at every grade level from K-8. The beginning of my career focused on middle school math and science in Arizona. This trajectory continued as I transitioned into an international teaching role in Brazil. I, then, decided to make the move to elementary and joined AISGuangzhou. While in China, my eyes were opened to the EdTech and MakerEd world. My love for integrating edtech into the classroom led me to a new position of technology coach at AISChennai. Because of my training and second Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, my position changed to Curriculum Coordinator which gave me the opportunity to work with the whole school in varying departments and grade levels. I’ve spent the last 6 years developing my coaching skills and am now joining the KIS community as a Teaching and Learning Coach.
