Meet Claire.

I love trying all things arts & crafts! (origami, hand-lettering, pastel art, scrapbooking, miniature art, etc)

Bio

I was born in California and spent my childhood in Midland, Michigan. After moving to Korea and fully immersing myself in the language and culture of my parents, my Korean-American identity developed and strengthened through personal experiences. Along the journey, I’ve learned the importance of adaptability, flexibility, and open mindedness. Now I am proud to be a daughter of immigrants, teacher of color, and lifelong learner in the ever-changing field of education!

Experience in Education

I entered college as an International Relations major but transitioned to a teacher education program after realizing I want to have a more direct impact through my daily work. I have a Bachelors of Science in Education in Elementary and Special Education from University of Delaware, and a Master of Education in Learning & Teaching from Harvard University. I am passionate about finding creative and practical ways to bridge current educational research and teaching practices. Experiencing different roles in math education at KIS, I’ve had the joy of working with Kindergarteners through 10th graders, and observing the progression of math concepts and skills from early numeracy to algebraic expressions. I am excited to continue collaborating with elementary teachers in math education!
