DRAGONS-
When DRAGONS are down, DRAGONS stick together. This has been a point of pride within our community for years. This past week was hard on a lot of people. We were very proud to see our families and our friends come together to support those who really needed it. When a few of us made mistakes, our classmates, faculty, and other members of our community were there to remind us how we should behave and be supportive. DRAGONS FIGHTING!
MS DRAGONS,
We are nearing the end of semester 1. Take this time to reflect on your academics and your behavior. What can you do to make our community a better place?
Last Week: Last week was a tough week for our community and many members of the MS community. Rather than seeking information to find out what happened, take some time to consider others and have some empathy for how they feel. Think about the questions you ask. Are you trying to be helpful or just looking for information that does not pertain to you? Be supportive and help your friends and faculty.
Jeju Furey Gift Wrapping:
We are considering having December 15 as a day when each grade will get some time to help the Jeju Furey Charity Drive wrap some of the gifts that our 21+ million KRW purchased for people in need on Jeju. Middle School will spend an hour doing this before watching the matinee of the musical, Legally Blonde Jr.
Mr. Vento has sent a letter to the entire community to come and join us on December 16 from 10am to 1pm to wrap gifts, listen to some Christmas music, and have some hot chocolate. Hopefully, you and your family can attend!
Clash of DRAGONS, Gift Wrapping, and Matinee Viewing: This Friday will be a special day. We will have regular morning classes, but in the afternoon we will have a couple of special events to help us build community, get in the holiday spirit, and be supportive of our community
You have done a great job exploring Ancient Egypt from so many different perspectives. This Friday we will celebrate your learning and your work. Let’s have a great week so that you can proudly show what you’ve done to our community!
We are getting close to the end of the semester. As we wrap up the semester, remember to stay focused and end 2023 on a positive note. We are not just talking about doing your best academically but also doing your best as a kind and compassionate person. In advisory, we will focus on being upstanders so that we can create a welcoming environment for everyone. We end the week with helping out Jeju Furey and watching the MS musical. It’s going to be a great week.
You have a big week ahead with a lot going on. Make sure you are talking to your teachers and staying on top of things. We have less than 2 weeks left until winter break. Don’t start making bad choices now.
Grade 7 had a great experiential dayon Friday, December 8.
We will have a battle of knowledge later this week - Be ready!!!

After the evening show, we have to clean up, take costumes home, and clear the stage. Please make sure that you can stay until 8 pm to complete this.
PLAYWRITING FESTIVAL Playwrights: We will have a meeting after school on Monday, Dec 18, from 4 pm to 4:20 pm. Attendance is mandatory. And if you haven’t contacted your mentor teacher yet, please do that ASAP. Remember that you can’t start your second draft until you have met with your mentor teachers. You may always contact Ms. Anderson or Mr. Dingle if you have any questions or need a little help. The date for your second draft will be immediately following winter break (Monday, January 15, 2024).

What a weekend we had. KISJ had its first official competition this Sunday. Our G6 and G7 players competed inthe Jeju Baseball School Competition. Though we didn’t bring home the hardware our team fought hard, got a few bruises, but had a lot of laughs! Coach Baek, Coach Pasquale, and Coach Boland are all very PROUD of you!!!!
2 School weeks until Exploration! Do you have a clear plan for your Passion Project? Remember that you can reach out Ms. Anderson or Ms. Cooper for help on developing your plan!
During Exploration, you will have workshops and guest speakers. This year you get some choice in your workshops and guest speakers! They are grouped together into 6 options called Strands.
IMPORTANT:
Please look at these slides for information on each strand.
Then: Fill out this survey to select your strand! The first students to fill it out are more likely to get their first choice. If you do not fill it out, you will be randomly put into whatever group is left.
A big thank you to the Grade 6 Orchestra class who came to visit the art room last week. Grade 6 Visual Art class had the amazing experience of glazing their pottery to a private performance of an orchestra. It was a room full of wonderful musicians and artists.
Students, as the end of the semester nears, it is time to start returning your overdue books. Please make sure to return the library reading materials before the semester break begins.
ALSO… SORA has many many - Graphic Novels and Comics without holds! Give them a try. Need Help, see your Librarian
Each week for Semester 1, there will be a short Google Form asking questions about our school’s guiding document, The School and Dorm Life Guide. Students are expected to read and understand this document. If you complete the quiz, and get all the questions right, there might be a small reward for you! Here is Quiz # 15.
Make sure to check out the MS Office for items that have been misplaced. We often have an overload of hoodies and PE shirts. Please remember to label your belongings.
At the end of each month, we remove all items.
Please continue to follow our uniform policy. Students are expected to be in the proper uniform at all times and to wear their uniforms properly. Non-uniform clothing should not be worn on campus during the school day.
