Look for the teal bear icon. That's our narrator character, Kodi! If you don't have the app installed onto student devices, talk with someone at your school. The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple, Google Play, or the Amazon app stores. If you need help, reach out to us at khankidspartners@khanacademy.org.
Please note that if you use Clever, this icon may also appear in the students' Clever library as a badge. You need the app installed from the app store in addition to the badge in the Clever library.
Next, decide how you will have students log into the app.
In most cases, we recommend using our Class Code system. You will log students in once, and they will stay logged in.
If you’re using Class Codes, go to your teacher dashboard, click on settings, and copy down your code.
Students will use the Class Code to sign into Khan Kids.
Students don’t need to create their own account and do not need to enter their email address into the app at any point.
1. On each student device, open the Khan Academy Kids app and tap At School and then Student
2. Type in the Class Code you found in your Teacher Settings
3. Select the student who will be using this device. If devices are shared by students, select "pick the whole class".
4. Success! Your students will now be able to easily log in by tapping on the Khan Kids app icon and then tapping on their avatar.
If students are sharing devices, you will see all of the avatars. Be sure to teach students how to find their name and avatar.
If your students use Clever to sign into other applications, you may want them to use Clever to sign in to Khan Kids as well. If you do, there are two options.
Option 1: Sign in via their Clever Portal. Open the Clever app or go to Clever on a web browser. Tap the Khan Academy Kids tile. The native app will open and the student will be signed in automatically.
Option 2: Sign in inside the Khan Academy Kids app. Students can open the Khan Kids app directly on the device. They can select “Sign in with Clever” and then scan their Clever badge.
