American Mathematics Competition 10/12 for 2025
The AMC10 and AMC12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examinations in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills – you can view practice questions here: https://artofproblemsolving.com/wiki/index.php/AMC_Problems_and_Solutions
The AMC12 is open to students in Years 13 and below and the AMC10 is open to students in Years 11 and below. Students can participate in either of these competitions (not both), and students in Years 7 – 9 should look through the practice questions linked above before deciding whether to enter this specific contest, or wait for the AMC8 taking place later this academic year.
The AMC10 and AMC12 will take place after school on Friday, 14th November 2025 and should finish around 5:15pm. The cost is $75 HKD, which parents will be invoiced for through our school’s ePayment system. Detailed logistical information will be sent to participants around one week prior to the Competition date.
All students receive a certificate of participation, and major awards include:
- Honor Roll of Distinction – scored in the top 1% worldwide
- Honor Roll – scored in the top 1 ~ 5% worldwide
- Certificate of Achievement (AMC10) – in Year 9 or below who achieve a scores of 90 or above
- Certificate of Achievement (AMC12) – in Year 11 or below who achieve a scores of 90 or above
Students who perform exceptionally well on the AMC 10/12 are invited to continue participating in the AMC series of examinations, and students who wish to be considered for nomination to HKAGE’s International Mathematical Olympiad later this year should consider taking part.
If you wish to take part, please sign up through the Activities page on LIONeL by the Monday, 27th October 2025 deadline, and have your parents approve in LIONeL by the 30th October 2025 deadline. Please also email Ms Streeter if you're in Y11 or below but wish to sit the AMC12 instead of the AMC10.
