Attendance Notes
Our attendance system is paperless. If your child is absent or needs an early release, email a note to attendance.sk@kenton.kyschools.us and our staff will take care of excusing the absences.
Class Rings
Jostens will be here to do a presentation for class rings with Sophomores on September 30, 2026 during SKORE. Information from the presentation will be shared via email with parents. Students in all grades are welcome to order class rings. Deadline for orders will be October 14, 2026. Estimated delivery of orders is December. More information on delivery will be shared at a later date.
College Rep Visits 26-27
Below are the dates and links to sign-up for the colleges/universities who will be at SK this fall to meet with interested students. They will be here during SKORE. You will receive a pass to come to the meeting.

College and Career Expo
Hosted by Cooper High School on Saturday September 19, 2026 at 1pm.
The fair is approved by KYACAC and they are expecting over 30 representatives from colleges, universities, 2 year & trade programs, as well as military recruiters and KHEAA.
In addition to the fair portion of the event, they also will be holding mini-workshops with representatives from KHEAA, NKU, Xavier, and Gateway sharing information on financial aid, choosing the right college, planning for college visits, and career exploration. The event is completely FREE, but they do ask students to register at www.strivefair.com. See flyer for more details.

Pharmacy Technician Pipeline Program
This is a free 6-month online program for students interested in becoming a certified pharmacy technician. The progam is offered through the North Central Area Health Education Center. The application is now open and will colose on 9/18. Students who wish to participate must be at least 16 years of age by MAY 2027. This is not for high school or college credit. Students would be doing this program in addition to their regular SK scheduled classes. It is not affiliated with the KCSD. For more information check out the flyer. NaviGo Scholars - Applications for 26-27 SY NOW OPEN!!
The application for the 26-27 NaviGo Scholars program is now open. It will close on September 2.
There are currently 14 groups available.
Interested students should go to the NaviGo website for more information regarding each group and to apply.
EARN FREE COLLEGE CREDIT through CLEP (College - Level Examination Program)
Students have the opportunity to earn college credit through the CLEP program. NKU Testing Services will administer any of the 34 CLEP exams.
Modern States Education Alliance offers free online courses in all CLEP subjects. Modern States is paying the CLEP exam / scheduling fee (through a voucher / reimbursement) for students who enroll in their courses and take the exams. Courses, textbooks and materials are free. All you need is internet access and a desire to learn.

This is a GREAT opportunity for any student that will be pursuing a post-secondary degree. Students should consider enrolling in a course or two over the summer! See Ms. Currin if you have questions and regarding options. Current dual credit students should make sure they are not enrolling in a class that they already have earned credit.
Gateway Apprenticeship Academy for Rising Juniors and Seniors
The Apprenticeship Academy is a program for students who are interested in the trades but do not know which trade they want to do yet. Students participate in exploratory classes including welding, machining, electrical and more. Once graduated from SK if continuing at Gateway, Gateway will assist in placing students in an apprenticeship as they complete classes in their chosen program.
Students interested in this program should email Ms. Hughes directly at emily.hughes@kenton.kyschools.us to be put on a list for when registration begins in March. Students must have their own transportation to campus for this program. This is a dual credit program so students will also need to complete the dual credit paperwork packet linked below.

Gateway Apprenticeship Academy Flyer
Free ACT Prep Events @ Boone County Public Library
Club Z Tutoring will provide an overview of strategies to prepare students for taking the ACT. Afterwards, each participant will receive a code to take an online practice test.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare High School Volunteer Program
If you are seeking service hours, a way to meet teens from over 40 high schools and scholarship opportunities - we have a place for you. Students age 14 and older are eligible. There are 3 sessions throughout the year. Shifts are available 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 8am - 8pm. Students typically serve 3-4 hours per week. XELLO/ ILP Completion Information
All students in the state of Kentucky must complete an ILP (Individualized Learning Plan) each school year. The Kenton County School District uses XELLO as the ILP. Students should be finished with all lessons by January 31st.
Students who are in-person at Simon Kenton have time during 4th period to work on their ILP.
Students who do not have an in-person 4th period class need to complete their XELLO lessons/activities on their own time.
