Governor's School & Scholars Program Information

The state of Kentucky offers three prestigious programs to students who attend schools in the state: Governor's Scholars Program (grade 11), Governor's School for the Arts (grades 10-11) and Governor's School for Entrepreneurs (grades 9-11). Each program is totally free to the student, with the exception of GSA's application fee, and participation will grant students who go to college in the state of Kentucky considerable scholarship opportunities. Governor's Scholars Program (GSP)

The Governor's Scholars Program strives to enhance Kentucky's next generation of civic and economic leaders. Established in 1983, the program provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Current Juniors must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge during the summer between their Junior and Senior year. Governor's School for the Arts (GSA)

GSA is for current Sophomore or Junior Students. For three weeks every summer, over 200 of Kentucky’s most talented and creative high school students are invited to grow and learn together at the Governor’s School for the Arts’ college summer residence program. Rising juniors and seniors in high school are offered in-depth instruction in one of nine artistic disciplines: architecture + design, creative writing, dance, drama, instrumental music, musical theater, new media, visual art, and vocal music. Governor's School for Entrepreneur's (GSE)

The Governor's School for Entrepreneurs (GSE) identifies and enables Kentucky high school students (current Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors) to become our Commonwealth's next generation of entrepreneurs. Through our three-week residential experience, GSE participants from throughout the Commonwealth are:

Introduced to Kentucky' most successful entrepreneurs & fastest growing businesses
Equipped with tools & skills to create & building their own businesses
Matched with complementary skilled peers to develop business plans & product or service prototypes.

The annual GSE intensive program culminates in a pitch competition attended by a large audience representing Kentucky's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
