Kia ora Base 3 whānau,

Welcome to our Term 3, Week 7 Newsletter! Only a few weeks left of Term 3, however we still have lots coming up this term. Keep an eye out on Hero and our newsletters so that you know when things are coming up.

Attendance:
Our goal this term is attendance. Our attendance has improved to 88.6% however we are still working towards our target goal of 90% and being the highest attending base in the school! Please support your child to be at school everyday and to arrive before the bell which is 8:30am. 

Book Bags
We read with our students daily. It is vital for students to bring their book bags to school everyday in order for them to take a book home. Please remind students to put their book bags in their school bags every night. As part of students developing their independence and ability to manage themselves we have been telling the students they are responsible for bringing their book bag into class each day. If you could support them with this and remind to do this.

Uniform:
We understand the weather has been unpredictable, however, it is really important that children come to school wearing our correct school uniform. If students are wearing an incorrect item of clothing, we ask that they carry a note explaining why.

Whānau Have A Go Day:
On Wednesday 6th September, we are having Whānau Have A Go day at Bruce Pulman Park. We will be walking to Bruce Pulman Area and enjoying a day filled with different sporting activities.  Parents and Caregivers are welcome to spectate. We hope to see you there!

Tongan Language Week

Mālō e lelei! Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e Lea Faka-Tonga (Tongan Language Week) is being celebrated Sunday 3 September to Saturday 9 September 2023. In Base we are going to be learning some greetings and songs to celebrate the week.

Ice cream Sundae

As part of finishing our Duck Island Ice Cream Competition, we tried to make ice cream in a bag. We followed a recipe from Ice cream in a bag. Later, we got to make our own ice cream sundaes. It was delicious!

Crazy Hair Day

Last Thursday, we had Crazy Hair Day. We had many students who came to school with crazy hair styles. Thank you for all your effort that went into your children's crazy hair do's.
