Term 2 Week 3

Kia ora Base 3 whānau,

We have had a great start back to Term 2 with some wonderful learning despite some crazy weather.

There has been so much to learn about as New Zealand celebrates and commemorates many occasions. We learnt about how A.N.Z.A.C day is commemorated and why it is important to Aotearoa, we've been learning lots about one of our official languages; NZ Sign Language and are getting into the NZ music culture as we continue to celebrate NZ music month.

As always, the door is open before school if you'd like to pop in. Otherwise, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any or all of the base kaiako.

Kind regards,
Base 3 Kaiako

Fire

Mrs Roberts' and Ms Aslam's UC4L groups have been talking about escape plans. We now understand that we need to meet at a safe meeting place if there is a fire or if the smoke alarm starts beeping. We used Legos and created escape plans for our Base. We learned to work together and share the Lego with our friends.

Water

We have continued to dive deep into the underwater world of sea creatures! We have learnt lots about the 5 zones of the oceans and the different things they home. Currently, we are showing our learning by creating a big mural of our zones with fact files to inform our classmates on our discoveries!

Earth

This term our learning around the topic Earth has taken a new direction. We have been learning about the great outdoors. The students have been learning skills such as building camp fires, setting up tents, rope skills and other survival skills. Here are some snaps of them designing and creating the campfires and some pictures of the students demonstrating teamwork while setting up tents.
