Calendar of Activities By Month:

January / February:

• Collect tax documents and schedule a tax preparation appointment at KVCC or other free service location (see Taxes).
• Submit applications for Kalamazoo County Pre-K. See education pre-Kindergarten

April: Fill out and submit forms for summer school.

August: Mail in free lunch form and discuss with parent. This is very important paperwork. Even if your refugee child does not utilize the free lunches, the status acts like a qualification document for camp scholarships, soccer scholarships, free clothing, and other non-profit services in the area. The family will need to present this information year round. The value of free lunch status can add up to thousands of dollars.

August: Bus forms are mailed home, train parents on bus times.

August: Train parents on school calendar and holidays.

August: Last week prior to Labor Day (often the Wednesday) is the school open house. Take parents and introduce yourself to the sponsor.

August: Make medical plan with school nurse if there are medical issues.

Fall Parent Teacher conferences: tell the teacher you want the children enrolled in Summer School.
