We read the story Pumpkin Jack in our classroom. The story tells about a boy who carves a pumpkin for Halloween. After Halloween, he throws it in the garden and watches it get buried by the snow. When spring comes, the boy notices a new pumpkin growing in the same spot. So the pumpkin's life cycle continues. We have started our own "Pumpkin Jack" in our classroom. We carved a pumpkin, put it in a clear tote, and we will watch the pumpkin life cycle unfold in our classroom.
The class voted on calling or Pumpkin, Piper instead of Jack!
After we got back from Christmas break, we noticed that our pumpkin was starting to grow. We added more dirt on top of our decomposed pumpkin.
