The last two weeks before Christmas Vacation, second graders celebrated Christmas Days. Each day was designated something Christmas. We listened to a story, had a snack, and did an activity each day.
We listened to the story "Tacky the Penguin", had goldfish for a snack, and drew a penguin!
Gingerbread Man Day and Christmas Carol day were combined. We listened to the story "The Gingerbread Girl", sang Christmas Carols, had gingerbread cookies and hot chocolate for a snack!
We listened to the story "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", read about reindeer, and made reindeer brownies.
We listened to the story "The Littlest Christmas Tree" and made a Christmas Tree out of a sugar cone!
We decorated Christmas Cookies and wrote Mrs. Claus a new Special Christmas Cookie recipe!
We played a Candy Cane Game and did a science experiment with Candy Canes. We predicted which candy cane would melt the fastest in which liquid. We used hot water, cold water, vegetable oil, and pop. Hot water was the first to dissolve the candy cane, next was cold water, and then pop. The candy cane in vegetable oil didn't do anything!
We didn't have school on Thursday, Dec. 18 because of a snow day. We did Santa Claus day on Monday, Jan. 5. We read the story "The Night Before Christmas", learned about different ways people celebrated Christmad, and had Santa Jello!
