Portrait of an 8th Grader

Foster a climate in junior high school that focuses on meeting the needs of the whole child; ensure that every student exits 8th grade with the requisite literacy, numeracy, decision-making/problem-solving, social-emotional, citizenship, and 21st Century skills necessary to make successful transitions while demonstrating readiness for home, student, and community life & learning at the secondary level and beyond.

Juab School District, in an effort to better provide a whole child learning experience, administered the ACT Tessera assessment to all 6th graders this fall. The ACT Tessera is a comprehensive next-generation assessment system designed to measure Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. The ACT Tessera measures strengths in the following five areas: Sustaining Effort, Getting Along with Others, Maintaining Composure, Keeping an Open Mind, and Social Connection.

The data obtained from these assessments will be utilized by teachers and administrators to review student academic progress, plan instruction, and share with individual students and their parents. Please contact Lyndsay Downard at 435-623-1541 with any questions you may have.
