Portrait of a 5th Grader
Foster a climate in each elementary school that focuses on meeting the needs of the whole child; ensure that every student exits 5th grade with the requisite literacy, numeracy, decision-making/problem-solving, social-emotional, citizenship, and 21st Century skills necessary to make successful transitions while demonstrating readiness for home, student, and community life & learning at the secondary level and beyond.

I am determined to achieve goals that I set for myself.

I offer to help those who need assistance.
If one of my classmates seems unhappy, I ask them if they are okay even if we aren’t close friends.

When a problem comes up, my first response is to panic.
When someone doesn't agree with me, I get angry.
I am comfortable with last minute changes to plans.

I am good at thinking up unique solutions to problems.
