Mrs. Comardelle has always dreamed of becoming a teacher. She has worked at John Curtis for almost five years and has loved every moment. She stated, “Even as a little girl, I would line up my stuffed animals and teach my little heart out.” There was a brief season when she wanted to do social work, but she is so grateful that she became an educator instead. Her favorite thing about being a teacher is the relationship she builds with her students each year. She calls them her kids because they are so much more than just students to her. Mrs. Comardelle is also a wife and mom who loves to hang out with her family, whether going on a family run with the stroller or binge-watching Cocomelon for the 136,782 time. She also loves to spend time with the Lord; it’s a priority. There are so many things that Mrs. Comardelle loves about working at John Curtis. Coming from a public school background, she is so grateful for the numerous things most take for granted: a God-centered school, a family environment, administrators who support and trust their teachers, honored planning time that allows me to have family time at home, and the amazing school spirit. When asked for an interesting fact about herself, Mrs. Comardelle said, “My family moved to the United States from the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War. If it wasn’t for that war, I would have grown up in Egypt or Greece.”
Coach Jerry Godfrey has worked at John Curtis for 21 years. He wanted to be a teacher because he loves working with young adults and inspiring them to become the best that they can be. His favorite thing about teaching is interacting with the students and witnessing their growth. He enjoys spending time on the water in his boat when he gets a break from school and coaching football and softball. He loves working at John Curtis because of the Christ-like setting. He commented “Plus, I get to cut the grass.” Coach Jerry also said that he was a shy person, but if you know his big personality, you would probably disagree.
Mrs. Muller has worked at John Curtis for four years. She decided to become a teacher because she wanted to positively influence kids’ lives and help them have a strong start. Her favorite thing about being a teacher is the students. “Every year, I get to meet a new group of creative, talented, interesting individuals, and I love getting to know them and pushing them to be their best.” Her favorite part about working at John Curtis is sharing her faith and the family-like feeling at the school. She loves spending time with her family when she is not at school. A fun fact about Mrs. Muller is that she has never broken a bone. When she was younger, she thought about becoming a lawyer or attending cosmetology school. Luckily for us, she became a teacher instead!
Coach Jeff Curtis has worked at John Curtis since 1999, 23 wonderful years. Whenever he had a spare moment from his studies at Tulane University, he found himself back at John Curtis, helping out however he could. Coach Jeff went to college not thinking of becoming a teacher but possibly earning a degree in business, pre-law, or even college coaching. However, he realized it was God’s calling for him to become an educator. His favorite thing about teaching is being around the students every day. “Seeing them grow and mature throughout their careers is so awesome to see.” Coach Jeff loves working at John Curtis because he gets to work with his family and extended family, having an opportunity to share his precious time with so many students as they grow through their high school careers as students and as athletes. When not at school, he enjoys being with his family, attending athletic events, and going on family excursions. When asked for an interesting fact about himself, Coach Jeff said, “Coach Jerry and I were high school teammates, graduated together, and were college roommates for 3 ½ years! We both were on the Tulane football team that won the 1998 Liberty Bowl, and our team finished ranked #7 in the nation. Coach Preston was also on that 1998 team!”
