Mrs. Elliot is the teacher for our Fine Arts Survey and Art II classes. She has a great passion for teaching students the arts.
Fine Arts Survey is a survey course encompassing an introduction to all kinds of fine arts—visual arts (our predominate subject), music, and theater all fit in the curriculum. Art II is a more traditional art course, exploring different genres and media of visual art and learning how to evaluate and critique art.
Mrs. Elliot said, "I love teaching fine arts—especially when students get excited about it. Getting a student to connect with something that allows him or her to express creativity is one of my favorite things. The arts are so beneficial to us in so many ways—helping us exercise our brain by exposing it to new things, helping us to relieve stress, helping us to express emotion, and just plain helping us to experience joy. If I can get this message across to my students and get them to embrace this, I have done my job!"
Allowing your artistic abilities to shine can have many benefits. Creating art can allow your imagination to shine, help you express your emotions in a healthy way, and also allows you to take your mind away from negative situations. Art is a great outlet to express your creativity and can be a way for you to showcase your talent. It can also increase your happiness and positivity. Give it a try!
