Loaded teas have taken the energy-craving community by storm. They are trending and people are buying them every day, claiming they really improve energy levels. But are they really good for you? We all know that too much caffeine is not good for you, so how much caffeine is actually in one loaded tea? There is actually 200 mg of caffeine in each one, which is equivalent to 2 cups of coffee or 2 red bulls. In order to not disrupt your sleep schedule or have the jitters all the time, you should try to limit your tea drinking to only a couple a week at most and before lunch, so the caffeine is mainly out of your system by nighttime. Did you know that loaded teas are actually not teas at all? They are a powdery mix from the brand Herbalife, that includes a combination of herbal supplements, vitamins, and sweeteners. If you have a problem with caffeine or energy drinks, then loaded teas are not for you, but if you do enjoy them and find they give you a positive balance of energy, then just remember that moderation is key!
Cameron Bruno, a senior, has been drinking loaded teas for about a year now and drinks them about 6 times a week. She spends around $35 dollars a week on them and says that now if she doesn't drink them she will get a headache. She says that they still have the same effect as when she first started drinking them.
Savannah Teague, also a senior, said she has been drinking teas for about a year and a half and now she drinks about 1-2 a week. She spends about $20 a week and claims that they make her more hyper and still have the same effect as when she first started drinking them.
At the lower school, the teachers rely on teas to get them through the day. Pictured below are Mrs. Ali and Mrs. Toni drinking their loaded teas.
