Students will have the opportunity to be involved in small group work throughout the school year. I offer two types of small groups at Jacksonville Elementary School, informal groups and structured groups.

Informal groups serve to help students make connections with their peers, build social skills, improve communication, and increase collaboration skills. We play cooperative games, take turns sharing about ourselves, and talk about our school likes and dislikes.

Structured groups focus on specific topics and skills and are offered as needed throughout the school year. Structured groups run for 4-8 weeks, during which time goals are set and planned activities take place. At the end of the group, each student is assessed in terms of the goals that were set to determine if any follow-up needs may exist.
