This course is a systematic treatment of chemical principles and their applications. Concepts to be covered include: the nature of scientific knowledge, inquiry and enterprise, scientific measurement and the Metric System, matter and energy, atomic structure & electron configurations, periodic table, the mole concept, chemical reactions and equations, stoichiometry, phases of matter, behavior of gases and gas laws, solutions, reaction rates and equilibrium, and acids, bases and salts.
