This unit examines six common types of chemical reactions and the equations they explain. In this unit you will:

1. Describe the characteristics of a chemical reaction.
2. Describe the process that takes place in a variety of chemical reaction (electron transfer, hydrogen ion transfer or ion exchange).
3. Identify the type of chemical reaction that will take place given any set of reactants.
4. Predict the products and write and balance the chemical equation given any set of reactants
5. Describe the chemical process known as oxidation and reduction and balance an equation.
