Cht 2 - Matter and Change

This unit covers the basics of matter and energy. It will include the classification of matter and the different forms that matter takes. We will also explore energy including its different types and how it relates to matter. The following learning objectives will be covered:

1. Define and classify matter and distinguish among different types.
2. Compare and contrast physical and chemical properties of matter
3. Compare and contrast the pure substances – elements and compounds.
4. Compare and contrast types of mixtures – heterogeneous and homogeneous.
5. Discuss the law of conservation of Mass and give an example.
