Week of May 4-8

Bible: In the upcoming week students will finish reading the book "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" by C.S. Lewis. Then, we will watch the movie and begin our devotional project.

Friendzy: As we start near the end of the 2025-2026 school year, unit seven of our Friendzy curriculum is Sort It Out. It addresses the important topic of conflict resolution. Conflict is a normal part of being in a relationship with others. Depending on how we respond in conflict, it can hurt a relationship, or it can make a relationship stronger. This month, students will learn to build connections in relationships through sorting out their problems and differences as we focus on Colossians 3:12.

Math

Targets:

This week in math we will begin our final unit on Chapter 10, volumes and surface areas of solids. We will start the week with DELTA Math review and the assessment before students learn various formulas to find the surface areas and volumes of prisms, spheres, cylinders, etc.

Algebra

Targets: 

This week we will wrap up chapter 9, solving quadratic functions. We will review solving quadratic equations with the quadratic formula and solving with substitution. We will take the second quiz of the unit before reviewing all 9.1-9.6 and assessing at the end of the week.

Language Arts 

Targets: 

On Monday and Tuesday, students will take the Language Usage MAP test. Then, we will continue reading Bomb by Steve Sheinkin. This nonfiction book explores the Manhattan Project and the individuals involved in inventing the first atomic bomb. It also considers the implications of this research, as well as the espionage occurring during this time by the Soviets and Americans.

Science: In the upcoming week students will continue their second part of our unit on waves. We will learn about the human eye, it's parts and functions, which will lead to a dissection lab of a cow eye.

Social Studies: We will continue with this unit by finishing our papers and watching a summary video before we have a final test on westward expansion and American foreign policy.
