Week of May 18-22

Language Arts: 

• Learning Targets -  SERVE WEEK! Students will work on their Argumentative Essay with guided practice and modeling in class. We will focus on our body paragraphs and conclusion.

Bible: 

Learning Targets:  We will introduce our last unit on the time between the testaments, and how the Hebrew people were able to survive and continue their religion during the Persian conquest and Hellenization.

Science:

Learning Targets: 

This week we will learn about bridges and engineering. Students will be in groups, learning and becoming a master at a particular style of Bridge. Students will research various examples and characteristics of thies Bridge before presenting to the class. Students will then physically create a bridge at the end of the week with toothpicks and marshmallows.

Social Studies: We will continue our unit on the High Middle Ages by discussing the 100 Years War, and how its implications led to the weakening of the feudal system and the strengthening of royal power.  We will also discuss medieval universities, and students will create their own medieval universities.

Math: In the upcoming week students will begin their final unit on geometric figures and volume. We will learn how to find volume of cylinders, cones, and pyrmiads.
