Week of May 18-22

Bible: In the upcoming week students will reflect on serve, plan a chapel (Friday, May 22), and finish their projects on "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" by C.S. Lewis. In addition, we will see our buddy class one more time.

Friendzy: As we start near the end of the 2025-2026 school year, unit seven of our Friendzy curriculum is Sort It Out. It addresses the important topic of conflict resolution. Conflict is a normal part of being in a relationship with others. Depending on how we respond in conflict, it can hurt a relationship, or it can make a relationship stronger. This month, students will learn to build connections in relationships through sorting out their problems and differences as we focus on Colossians 3:12.

Targets:

This week in math we will wrap our unit on Chapter 10, volumes and surface areas of solids. We will review the three equations we learned, as well as how to identify similar solids. We will assess mid-week and then start our final game projects.

This week we will continue for the semester 2 exam. We will review content from chapters 6-9, reviewing formulas, functions, solutions, and how to describe a data set. Students will take the exam at the end of the week.

Language Arts 

Targets: 

This week, we will finish reading Bomb by Steve Sheinkin. This nonfiction book explores the Manhattan Project and the individuals involved in inventing the first atomic bomb. It also considers the implications of this research, as well as the espionage occurring during this time by the Soviets and Americans.

Science: In the upcoming week students will finish their second part of our unit on waves. We will have an assessment on electromagnetic waves. Then, students will complete their final project of the year: Bottle Rockets. We will launch the rockets at the end of the week and on their last day of school.

Social Studies: We will finish our conclusion of American History by concluding our wrap up video.  We will then begin a completely new unit.
