Week of January 5-9

Bible: In the upcoming week students will finish their unit on the book Pilgrim's Progress. We will finish reading the book, watch the movie, and start reviewing for our assessment. Through the books various faith lessons we will learn the importance of choosing "the hard but right way".

Targets:

This week in math we continue with the second half our unit on Chapter 2: Transformations. We will still be working with shapes but focusing largely on dilations and similar figures. Students will learn how dilations change a shape and how similar figures are related, finding missing sides and angles of similar shapes.

This week is our Algebra semester 1 exam week. We began exam review before break and will continue, along with part 1 and part 2 testing of the exam this week.

Language Arts 

Targets: 

This week we will continue our nonfiction reading unit. We will be reading Four Perfect Pebbles by Lila Perl and Marion Blumenthal Lazan, a true story about a family who was greatly impacted by the Holocaust. Throughout this unit, we will be building our knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust in order to better understand the story.

Science: In the upcoming week students will be starting a new unit on The Periodic Table. We will discover how the periodic table has changed over time, who the people were that designed it, and what the location of each element on the table tells you about the element.
