Learning Targets: This week we will discuss the Declaration of Independence, why would the colonies declare independence?

Assessments: Unit 11 and 12 assesment Friday  NEXT WEEK TUESDAY 

Reading/Writing:  This week we will continue reading The Watsons Go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis, a historical fiction novel that is set in the 1960s. The story is told from the point of view of fourth-grader Kenny Watson. When Kenny and his family visit Birmingham, Alabama, he learns more about racial injustice and the Civil Rights Movement. In reading this novel, we will analyze characters, character relationships, and character development, among other important aspects of the book.

Homework:  

• Independently read for 20 mins at home (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Assessment:

• Students will be taking the MAP Reading test on Monday and Tuesday. 

Band: This week we will be starting a new piece of sheet music, and learning a new note!

• Tuesday: 1st wave Tubas; 2nd wave Saxophones

• Thursday: Full Band with instruments
