Bible: In the upcoming week students will begin their new unit on the book Pilgrim's Progress. We will be reading Gary Schmidt's version of John Bunyan's novel. Through the books various faith lessons we will learn the importance of choosing "the hard but right way".

Targets:

This week in math we will continue our unit on Chapter 2: Transformations. We will be working with shapes (mainly triangles) and learning the various graph transformations - dilations, rotations, reflections, translations. Students will learn how the vertices' coordinates change based on the transformations and how the shape is affected. This week we will focus largely on rotations and congruent figures.

Algebra

Targets: 

This week we will continue our unit on Chapter 5, systems of equations. We will review the three methods for solving systems: Solving by graphing, substitution, and elimination. This week, we will learn how to represent all the possible solutions to a given systems of inequalities. We will learn how to represent these through equations and graphs, shading as necessary. Students will assess twice this week, looking at a final test next week.

Language Arts 

Targets: 

This week we will continue our nonfiction reading unit. We will be reading Four Perfect Pebbles by Lila Perl and Marion Blumenthal Lazan, a true story about a family who was greatly impacted by the Holocaust. Throughout this unit, we will be building our knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust in order to better understand the story.

Science: In the upcoming week students will be continuing  their unit on The Atom. Our learning targets we will review are who discovered the atom, what particles are inside of an atom, and what are those particles' functions? After our assessment on the atom, students will be completing an atom project/presentation before Christmas break.

Homework: Green Sheet Unit Targets: (ALL) - Wednesday, December 10

Assessments: Atom Test: Thursday, December 11.

Social Studies: We will discuss the War of1812, and why it resulted in a tie.  We will also discuss the aftermath of the war, and how it transformed American society.  Additionally, we will explore why the War of 1812 led to the political rise of Andrew Jackson and the Democratic Party.

Assignments: Nothing unless in-class assignments are not complete.
