Monday & Tuesday: Language Usage MAP testing
What we're learning & doing in class: This week we will be continuing our unit about the early ministry of Jesus. We will begin our lessons with learning about John the Baptist and Jesus' Baptism.

Reading/Writing: On Monday and Tuesday, students will be taking their Language Usage MAP tests in class. For the rest of the week, we will continue reading The Watsons Go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis, a historical fiction novel that is set in the 1960s. The story is told from the point of view of fourth-grader Kenny Watson. When Kenny and his family visit Birmingham, Alabama, he learns more about the Civil Rights Movement. In reading this novel, we will analyze characters, character relationships, and character development, among other important aspects of the book.
Homework:
Independently read for 20 mins at home (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and record on Reading Log
Assessment:
Vocab assessment (wobble, delinquent, punctual, intimidate, frostbite, shrug, stagger, peon, mourning, overthrown, tolerate) on Wednesday (moved due to the snow day on Friday)
Band: Because of our snow days last week, we will be having more time as an ensemble this week. There will be no Power Hour in the Library and we will plan for instruments in Thursday as well! Even though we only had to days of school last week, we still got some good work done. Excited to continue preparing for the Celebration of the Arts Concert!
