Reading/Writing: This week, we will finish reading The Watsons Go to Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis, a historical fiction novel that is set in the 1960s. Then, we will transition into an informational writing unit. Building on what students learned about life for African Americans in the 1960s, students will be writing a Civil Rights Research Paper (in the format of a newspaper article).
