Schools should consider the following:
Select a coordinator to monitor and support Work-Based Learning (WBL) Programs in your school.
Ensure all relevant staff review and understand all aspects of their WBL programs.
Ensure WBL students are scheduled appropriately based on student eligibility and all WBL programs are taught by an appropriate certified teacher (type of certification will vary by WBL type and pathway alignment).
Ensure student WBL experiences aligned to identified career goals in their Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) and ensure alignment to IEP (when applicable).
Ensure students are prepared for career success for the duration of their WBL placement.
Support ALL student populations in utilizing WBL programs as a path to Career Readiness.
Ensure periodic visits of worksites (not to exceed 60 days) to determine adherence to WBL Plan, to ensure student safety, and to ensure student training and supervision, and provide the WBL Coordinator and/or other approved staff adequate time to conduct worksite visits. *See Time and Travel Considerations below.

Block Schedules: WBL Coordinators should receive one (1) block period every other day to conduct site visits to provide support to students and employers and ensure compliance with WBL program standards..
Site Visits:
