Literacy & the Library

Welcome back from spring break!  As we head into the spring, we begin to prepare for state testing, book returns, and spring cleaning.

All library books will be due on May 17th. This year we are pushing back the due date so students will be able to have their books for a longer time, especially after Chromebooks have to be collected. At this time, we encourage you to start looking for any books you may have checked out, and if you are finished reading it, go ahead and turn that in to get another book. Students will be without their Chromebooks for several days and may have some downtime during testing, depending on their schedule. This would be a great time to check out some of the COOL books we have in the library!

Warmer days are finally near! Our literacy suggestion for April is to read outside. Reading outside is a calming way to practice mindfulness. There is nothing better than sitting outside, soaking up some rays, listening to the birds, all while reading a good book. Take a blanket to spread out and soak it all in and let nature begin its calming. This is a great way for families to spend time together too. You can even take your dinner outside to have a picnic, followed up with some reading. Louisville has many wonderful parks, and did you know you can do this at any of the Louisville Free Public Libraries, too?? Now, relax and enjoy!
